Send Certified Mail from files you upload

Upload the document. Add Certified Mail or Certificate of Mailing before you approve. We print, apply postage, and deliver the pieces to USPS. Same path as First-Class.

Certified vs Certificate of Mailing vs First-Class

You pick the service. You approve the proof. Tracing on First-Class is not proof.

Mail option What it is for On USMail.ai
First-Class Everyday documents and notices when ordinary delivery is enough. IMB tracing on qualifying letters and postcards is not tracking and is not proof. Default production path. Tracing included on qualifying First-Class letters and postcards. Tracking is not included.
Certified Mail Proof the piece was delivered. Selectable option on the same upload → produce flow. Not for postcards.
Certificate of Mailing A receipt that you handed the piece to USPS. Selectable when you need that receipt. Not proof of delivery.

We only offer the proof options the job can actually produce.

How a Certified job runs

Five production steps. Certified is an option on the job.

  1. Upload

    The document you already have.

  2. Options

Mail class, paper, finish, and the proof option.

  3. Addresses

CASS and NCOA run. Flagged pieces wait for you.

  4. You approve

Nothing prints until a human confirms.

  5. We produce

Print, postage, deliver the pieces to USPS on your mail date.

You do not open a second vendor. You do not print at your desk and drive to the window. Paper, duplex, color, and finish are still your choices on that job.

Certified never uses the 1:00 PM CT same-day window. That window is a narrow First-Class letter only. Approve by 10:00 PM CT for the next weekday mail date, or pick a later weekday up to 60 days. No weekend mail dates. After we deliver the pieces to USPS, USPS delivers. We do not publish delivery-day promises. Production cutoffs →

Flagged addresses on Certified

On Certified, a flag is a stop. Fix it or take the piece off the job.

CASS and NCOA run on the production path before you approve. When an address does not match, the piece is flagged for you.

On Certified Mail a flagged address must be fixed or taken off the job. You cannot still-mail it. You cannot send it anyway. Proof mail does not leave with a line USPS could not match.

You review flagged pieces in address quality. Correct the line and re-check, or remove the piece. There is no still-mail control on Certified. That control exists on First-Class only.

First-Class is a different rule. There you can still mail a flagged piece. Delivery is not guaranteed. Tracing still needs a good address. Do not assume CASS or NCOA on international pieces. Domestic USPS is the default. Address verification →

Tracking is not tracing, and neither is proof

USPS tracking is an option on Certified Mail and Priority. You add it before you approve when you need that scan product. It is not First-Class IMB tracing.

Tracing is included on qualifying First-Class letters and postcards. It is scan status. It is not legal proof. It is not Certified Mail.

Pick the proof the job needs. Do not treat tracing as a substitute. Tracing vs tracking →

Who needs formal proof

Proof-heavy mail, not a marketing drop. Industry pages own the rest. This page owns the proof options and the Certified address rule.

Billing

No public unit prices. Account plus prepaid meter. Approve on the app debits the meter. Production mail is not free. Certified and Certificate of Mailing are options on that meter, not a separate public catalog.
