Every address comes from you: read from your document, imported from a spreadsheet or typed by hand. After the addresses are on the job, we run a USPS address check called CASS. It puts each street, city, state and ZIP into the form USPS expects and tells us whether USPS recognizes the address. The same check runs whether the line came from a scanned letter, a spreadsheet row or your keyboard.
The check never makes up a recipient and never guesses a missing apartment number. If USPS can't match the line, the piece is flagged for you, and you decide what to do. You also choose how duplicate names and addresses are handled.

The address check confirms a street address exists in USPS data. It can't know whether your customer still lives there. Some accounts can also match names against USPS's change-of-address list when that's set up, which catches some moves but not people who never filed one. Keep your own list current, because the address you upload is the one we mail to.
Yes, more than anywhere else, because a Certified letter to a bad address wastes the fee and the time. Certified Mail is $1.15 plus the current USPS Certified Mail fee, which USPS publishes in Notice 123, and it includes USPS tracking. We don't offer paper Return Receipt yet. The page on what Certified Mail costs has the details. Certificate of Mailing is a lower-cost receipt that a piece was handed to USPS, and it has no tracking.
